According to previous data from the State Statistical Office, the total value of exports of goods from the Republic of Northern Macedonia in the period January – August 2021 amounted to 281 080 557 thousand denars and increased by 31.4% compared to the same period last year. The value of imported goods in the period January – August 2021 amounted to 385 119 088 thousand denars, which is 33.8% more compared to the same period last year.

The coverage of import with export, in the period January – August 2021, was 73.0%.

Commodity exchange denominated in US dollars

In the period January – August, RNM has realized a total trade exchange with R. Turkey worth 472 610 thousand US dollars, which is an increase of 46.1% compared to the same period in 2020. From that, export to Turkey is 90 525 thousand US dollars, which is an increase of 57.4% compared to the same period in 2020. Imports increased by 43.6% and amounted to 382 085 thousand US dollars. Turkey’s seventh trading partner of RNM, respectively Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Serbia, China, Bulgaria, Turkey and Italy. (State Statistical Office of RSM, 7.10.2021).

Trade in products shows that the largest share of exports are catalysts for carriers with precious metals or their compounds, sets of ignition conductors and the like, for vehicles, aircraft or ships, seat parts of subgroup 821.1 and ferronickel. Other imports are mostly platinum group metals and their alloys, unwrought or in powder form, ceramic products for laboratory, chemical and industrial use, platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form and petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (except raw).

In the period January – August 2021, according to the total volume of foreign trade, the Republic of North Macedonia traded the most with Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Serbia and China.

The total value of exports of goods from the Republic of North Macedonia, in the period January-August 2021,

amounted to 5 467 938 thousand US dollars and increased by 40.6% compared to the same period last year. The value of imported goods in the same period amounted to 7 490 189 thousand US dollars, which is 43.3% more compared to the same period last year. The trade deficit in the period January – August 2021 is 2 022 251 thousand US dollars.
