Foreign Trade Export – Import, January 2022

According to previous data from the State Statistical Office, the total value of exports of goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in January 2022 amounted to 33 687 553 thousand denars and increased by 3.7% compared to the same period last year. The value of imported goods in January 2022 amounted to 49 762 020 thousand denars, which is 29.5% more compared to the same period last year.

The trade deficit in January 2022 amounted to 16 074 468 thousand denars. The coverage of import with export, in January 2022, was 67.7%.

Commodity exchange denominated in US dollars

In the period January, Macedonia has realized a total trade exchange with R. Turkey in the amount of 64,998 thousand US dollars, which is an increase of 57.1% compared to the same period in 2021. From that, export to R. Turkey is 16 807 thousand US dollars, which is an increase of 56.1% compared to the same period in 2021. Imports increased by 57.5% and amounted to 51,191 thousand US dollars. Р. Turkey’s seventh trading partner Macedonia, respectively Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, China, Turkey and Italy. (State Statistical Office of RNM, 08.03.2022).

Trade in products shows that the largest share of exports are catalysts for carriers with precious metals or their compounds, sets of ignition conductors and the like, for vehicles, aircraft or ships, ferronickel and seat parts of subgroup 821.1. Most imports are electricity, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (except crude), other platinum group metals and their alloys, unworked or in powder form, and flat-rolled iron or alloy steel products, platinum-plated or uncoated.

In January 2022, according to the total volume of foreign trade, the Republic of North Macedonia traded the most with Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia.

The total value of exports of goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in January 2022 amounted to 618 118 thousand US dollars and decreased by 3.6% compared to the same period last year. The value of imported goods in the same period amounted to 913 303 thousand US dollars, which is 20.4% more compared to the same period last year. The trade deficit in January 2022 amounted to 295 185 thousand US dollars.
