Foreign trade, January-March 2023

According to the previous data of the State Statistics Office, the total value of the export of goods from the Republic of North Macedonia, in the period January – March 2023, amounts to 131 114 426 thousand denars and shows an increase of 9.6% compared to the same period of the previous year. The value of the imported goods, in the period January – March 2023, is 170 120 943 thousand denars, which is 2.9% less compared to the same period of the previous year.

The trade deficit, in the period January – March 2023, amounts to 39 006 517 thousand denars.

The coverage of imports with exports, in the period January – March 2023, is 77.1%.

Commodity exchange expressed in US dollars

In the period January-March 2023, the Republic of Macedonia has achieved total trade with Turkey in the value of 228 614 thousand US dollars, which is 2.8% less compared to the same period in 2022. Of that, export to Rs. Turkey amounts to 60,792 thousand US dollars, which represents an increase of 10.1% compared to the same period in 2022. Imports decreased by 6.7% and amounted to 167,822 thousand US dollars. R. Turkey is the seventh trade partner of Macedonia, followed by Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria and Turkiye. Trade by product shows that the largest share of exports is catalysts on carriers with precious metals or their compounds, sets of ignition wires and the like, for vehicles, aircraft or ships, electricity and flat products of iron or non-alloy steel, not platinum-plated or uncoated. Petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (except crude), other platinum group metals and their alloys, unprocessed or in powder form, platinum and platinum alloys, unprocessed or in powder, and precious metals in colloidal state are mostly represented in the imports. ; compounds, organic or inorganic, of precious metals, whether or not chemically defined; amalgams of precious metals.

In the period January – March 2023, according to the total volume of foreign trade, the Republic of North Macedonia traded mostly with Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria and Turkey.

The total value of the export of goods from the Republic of North Macedonia, in the period January – March 2023, amounts to 2 281 756 thousand US dollars and shows an increase of 4.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. The value of imported goods, in the same period, is 2,960,700 thousand US dollars, which is 7.1% less compared to the same period of the previous year.

The trade deficit, in the period January – March 2023, amounts to 678,944 thousand US dollars.
